Includes photomechanical prints (phototypes, etc.), photographs printed on silk, and a few stereographs or half-stereographs.
Many images mounted on heavy paper, possibly by collector. W.K. Vickery is stamped on many mounts, but role as photographer, publisher, or perhaps collector is unclear. Some may be copy prints (ca. 1900?) of earlier albumen photographs.

Josephine Hall Bishop was daughter of geologist James Hall and the wife of San Francisco attorney Thomas Benton Bishop. His Thomas B. Bishop Co. owned the San Ramon Rancho, later the Bishop Ranch development. Mrs. Bishop had a private museum attached to her home.
